The story behind Copello Crop Insurance Agency — and why Max started it.
Copello Crop Insurance Agency was founded in 2025 by Max Copello, a third-generation farmer with deep roots in California agriculture. His grandfather began farming in the Linden area after immigrating from Northern Italy in the 1920s, building the foundation for what would become a huge part of Max’s life.
Growing up, he spent time with his cousins in Linden, driving four wheelers through the towering walnut orchards, assisting with cherry harvest, and romanticizing the farming lifestyle. Those early memories instilled in him not just a love for farming, but a lifelong respect for the people who make it possible.
After college, Max went to work for a local grower, packer and shipper, where he learned both the business side of agriculture and hands-on experience farming the same crops he insures today. Over the past 15 years, he has farmed cherries, wine grapes, almonds, walnuts, and apples, gaining firsthand experience with the risks and rewards growers face every year.
Today, he brings that same dedication to helping farmers protect what matters most. He approaches every client with the same care and thoughtful decision-making he uses for his own crops, because he understands that farming isn’t just a business — it’s a way of life and a legacy that needs to be fiercely protected.
Max spent the past five years with a national insurance agency, where he led the crop insurance division. He is licensed to sell and service crop insurance in California and Nevada and is actively expanding into additional markets.
At Copello Crop Insurance Agency, Max’s goal is simple: to support the families and operations that keep California agriculture thriving for generations to come.
